Premium SSLs offer only a few advantages over standard SSLs, the most notable being a higher warranty for users purchasing items for your site and additional validation, which may help build trust with your site's users.

    • Verify ownership of your domain name
    • Verify your employment status or authority to request the Premium SSL certificate.

    You may be required to provide documentation proving legal existence within your respective state or country, as well as the following:

    • Proof of domain ownership
    • Online public directory listing
    • Articles of incorporation

    How is the premium SSL certificate issued?

    A premium SSL certificate is not structurally different from other certificates. but are designated by an Certificate Authority’s (CA) policy identifier so that the company’s official corporate name is featured in the SSL certificate.   Premium certificates are issued by Nexcess according to a specific set of identity validation criteria.
