How to create a secure password

    Attackers use specialized software designed to crack passwords by making millions of guesses per second. A secure password is your best protection, and often the most overlooked.  

    A secure password is:

    • Long and Complex, NOT a short password or pattern repeated several times

    • Random, NOT a birthday, relative or pet name, favorite song, address, phone number, quote, or anything else easily linked to you or your interests

    • Unique, NOT a password you have used anywhere else

    • Secret, NOT shared with any third parties

    Examples of secure passwords:

    The easiest way to create and maintain secure passwords is to use a password manager like LastPass, Dashlane, or 1Password. These apps organize and encrypt your unique passwords in the cloud, but require you to remember only one unique password.
